The Oldham County Schools Arts Center is a constant hub of activity with performances, classes and events scheduled round the clock. See what is happening in your favorite Arts Center space!
With seating for 450, the Performance Hall features an open stage, bright acoustics, and excellent sight lines. It has impressive architectural features such as wooden beams. In its short history, the Center has featured such events as concerts by singer/songwriter Paul Williams, the first Bluegrass Independent Film Festival, contemporary dance concerts, Walden Theatre, the Blue Apple Players, a jazz series featuring nationally prominent artists, the Louisville Orchestra Ensembles, the Louisville Bach Society, and much more.
The Multi-Purpose Room is one of the most flexible spaces within the Center. It has housed art, drama and dance classes as well as small concerts, weekend workshops, fashion shows, and banquets. The room can hold more than 200 people and has an attached commercial kitchen. The Center plans to add culinary and home design events in this spacious room in the near future including regularly scheduled afternoon teas, cooking classes, and workshops on flower arranging.
The Dance Studio is one of the largest and most complete dance studio spaces in the region. Converted from a former gymnasium, the studio features a newly-installed sound system, sprung wood floor, mirrors and barres. It provides space for classes in ballet, contemporary dance, jazz and creative movement and is used as rehearsal space for regional dance groups and nationally known teaching artists.
The rooms in Buecker Hall serve as studio and rehearsal space for long-standing partners of the Center including the Oldham County Singers and the Louisville Youth Orchestra. It is also the home of the “early bird” music classes for Oldham County students who take instruction before the regular school day begins. Private lessons in piano, voice, violin and guitar also are given in the hall and in other small studios.
The members of BPW Oldham County have been some of the Center’s strongest supporters. Visit the BPW Oldham County Gallery, located off the Main Lobby, to see rotating two and three-dimensional exhibits, featuring some of the finest artists in the region.
This gallery is located in the upper part of the Center. Visit for a peek at our permanent exhibit donated by Ms. Pamela Holman of Louisville and featuring prints of such fine artists as Monet.
The Center is home to the Oldham County GED program, workplace testing and training, and refresher classes. The Adult Education area features a large classroom for group study as well as smaller rooms for testing, individual tutoring, and classes such as GED Readiness and Math.
The Family Education Program and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are also housed at the Arts Center, occupying three classrooms for various levels of ESL classes and one classroom for children’s education.
The Adult Education Center also is home to a state-of-the art Computer Lab with 12 computer stations equipped with the latest technology.
Community Education classes and college-level classes offered through Jefferson Community and Technical College are located in various classrooms throughout the building.
